Does the USMNT still have their eyes on Jesse Marsh as head coach?

Sebastian Salazar breaks down what he thinks new athletic director Matt Crocker is doing by looking for a head coach for the USMNT.

Christian Pulisic, Weston McKinney and Folarin Balogun lead the list of 24 players who will prepare for the last quarter of the CONCACAF Nations League.

It is the top list under caretaker manager BJ Callahan, who was appointed earlier this week after his predecessor Anthony Hudson departed to take up a management role with an unknown club in the Middle East.

Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams was injured and did not feature in the squad. Adams was included in the preliminary list last month despite undergoing hamstring surgery in March, which ruled him out for the rest of the Premier League season.

Players will begin reporting to Los Angeles on June 4 for training camp.

The final 23-man roster is not official until it is submitted to the Concacaf squad, which is required no later than June 5.

The United States is scheduled to face rival Mexico on June 15.

“In addition to the great game experience and top-level talent, what’s great about this group overall is the familiarity and understanding that’s been built together over the past four years about our style and our culture,” said Callahan. “We are excited to bring in some fresh faces as we embark on our first goal of the summer defending our CONCACAF Nations League title.”

Balogun will be participating in his first US camp since making a one-time change with FIFA to represent the US.

He had an outstanding season while on loan with Stade Reims scoring 21 goals in all competitions. He is expected to make his debut against You don’t see.

Other players not selected were Inter Miami’s goaltender duo Drake Callender and Maccabi Haifa’s Josh Cohen.

There is also a lot of experience, as a total of 13 players participated in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, including eight players who started all four matches in Qatar.

Pulisic is the player with the most caps, with 54.

Overall, the average age of a boot camp roster will be 24 years, 216 days as of the first day of training on June 4th. The team has an average age of 17 total games and 11 official matches.

Among those sidelined with injuries are Adams, Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers, West Brom striker Daryl Dyke, Luton Town goalkeeper Ethan Horvath, Fulham defender Tim Ream, Norwich City striker Josh Sargent, Manchester City goalkeeper Zack Stephen and Rangers striker Malik Tillman.

And the absence of both Horvath and Stephen practically confirms that, barring injury, Arsenal’s Matt Turner will start in goal.

A source tells ESPN that Steven underwent arthroscopic knee surgery to repair the meniscus damage he suffered early last season and has had to run all year.

The source said that he will be absent from 3 to 4 months, which will most likely postpone the decision on the loan destination. Steffen is under contract with Man City for another two years and will rehabilitate them in the meantime.
