Players complain about long matchmaking times on PS5 as Concord numbers drop

In another worrying sign for Concorde’s longevity, complaints of long matchmaking times have started to surface as the already small player base appears to be shrinking. Following the game’s launch weekend, one PS5 player reported Reported Waiting up to eight minutes to find a match outside of peak hours is not ideal at all for a multiplayer-only game.

computer gamer The game has been monitoring the situation, and it’s easy to see where the problem lies, at least on PC. As of this writing, there were around 200 people playing on Steam, and that number has dropped to just 86 during off-peak hours (a far cry from the weekend high of 697 concurrent players). As a 5v5 PVP game, there are actually quite a few potential matches; some may be full, or connectivity may become an issue.

It’s hard to say whether PS5 player adoption is that weak; we suspect it might be a bit stronger, but that’s just a hunch. Regardless, if players actively engaged in Concord deviate by extending matchmaking times, the problem will only get worse. Whether Firesprite can correct the course or whether Concord can be saved remains to be seen, but it’s clear that something drastic must be done, and fast.
