Nintendo finally makes its own Joy-Con charging station

Nintendo just announced the launch of their first-party game which launches on October 17. This is a clear advantage for couch co-op fans, as you can charge two Joy-Cons on the dock and two other devices charged via the console at the same time. The Nintendo Charging Station also integrates with the company’s old NES wireless gamepads, which are primarily used with Nintendo Switch Online games.

The Joy-Con Charging Dock (bi-directional) accessory draws power from the Switch’s dock, via USB-C, or any other power adapter. The vertical stand can also be removed to make it more portable, another plus for those who sleep together at home. Nintendo hasn’t released any pricing information yet to go along with the October release date. It’s currently slated for a launch in Europe and Japan. We’ve reached out to Nintendo asking about a US release and will update this post when we hear back. October 17 is the same day the Nintendo Switch launches. So this should make for some good accessory-based synergy.

It’s worth noting that the Nintendo Switch is over seven years old. This accessory will be released in 2,785 days. Well, probably the Switch 2 (or whatever it’s called). What I’m saying is that this would have been a lot more useful six or seven years ago. Better late than never?

This is likely to be the last holiday season for the Switch. There’s a new Legend of Zelda game coming out on September 26, along with a themed console. Another big holiday title is Which will be released on November 7th.
