Man rips flag from Queen’s coffin, ‘people cry’ (VIDEO)

These pictures shocked the whole of England. As Britons lined up for hours to pay their last respects to the late Queen Elizabeth II, a bystander shocked everyone by grabbing the flag from her coffin.

In less than a minute, Westminster Police tackled the man to the ground under the horrified eyes of the crowd who had come to pay their respects to the Sovereign. According to The Sun, visits to the coffin were interrupted for 15 minutes following the incident.

“We thought someone had died and then we heard someone screaming. Someone approached the coffin, grabbed the flag and pulled it up,” a witness told the British daily. This type of behavior will offend more than one person. “It’s disrespectful to the body. We never thought we’d see this one day,” says a witness.

Another witness explains that the man pushed his seven-year-old niece so he could reach his destination and catch the Royal Standard. “Terrible, absolutely horrible. This poor seven-year-old child is the lasting memory of the queen,” he explains.

After the incident, the public was crying hysterically and “shaking”, another eyewitness said. The man was “arrested for a public order offense and is currently in custody,” a police spokesman said.
