Major PC mod sites are removing Spider-Man mods that replace the in-game pride flags

NexusMods and ModDB, two of the largest online PC game modding sites, have removed the in-game Pride Flags cutting project from the recently released PC port. Marvel Spider-Man Remastered. Like NexusMods Explained in a blog postthe mod was uploaded to his site by means of a completely new account with no modification history, which site administrators suspect is a secondary account of one of the site’s users – a “sock puppet” account.

“It is very clear that it was deliberately done to be a phishing,” NexusMods wrote. “The fact that the user needed to make a sock puppet like a coward to upload the form showed their intent to phish and they knew it wouldn’t be allowed. If they weren’t cowards and used their main account instead, we would have simply removed the mode and told them we didn’t want to host it, blocking them only if They reloaded it again after being fairly warned. Creating the sock puppet removed any doubt and made it a very easy decision for us.”

In addition to removing the mod, NexusMods says it has banned both “the sock puppet account and the main user account”. The game replaced the pride flags found around New York City with the United States flag, which is often seen in the original game.

ModDB, another popular source for PC game mods, too Confirmed in a tweet That mode has been removed. “ModDB is an inclusive environment and we do not allow marginalized groups to be targeted,” the tweet reads. Moderation of our content is largely automatic but when selected, we have a zero-tolerance policy for this type of content.
