Lena’s disappearance: Teen’s DNA found in stolen vehicle, breakthrough in investigation could help ‘find’ teen

Ten months after Lena’s mysterious disappearance, investigators are now confident of finding the 15-year-old after finding her genetic profile in a stolen vehicle.

Lena, 15 years old, mysteriously disappeared without a trace in Pas-Rhin in September 2023, walking along a sector road towards Saint-Blaise-la-Roche station. On Friday, July 26, 2024, the investigation may have taken a big step forward with revelations from the Strasbourg public prosecutor’s office: the young woman’s DNA was taken from a stolen vehicle, “not far from where young Lena disappeared. Last September”.

The prosecution said these elements would allow investigators to track down the teenager. There is no word yet on whether young Lena is alive or not.

10 months of mystery

On September 23, 2023, Lena was walking along a departmental road towards Saint-Blaise-la-Roche station. She planned to take the train at 12:03 pm to meet her boyfriend in Strasbourg. But Lena never achieved her goal. At one point, during this 2.9 kilometer journey, the young woman simply disappeared. Her phone rang for the last time at 11:22 on the drive, after she had made one last contact with her boyfriend.

After a teenager’s genetic profile was found in a stolen car, a year after she disappeared, the abduction hypothesis is being taken more seriously than ever by investigators.
