British jewelry designer, Shaun Leane most famous for his sculptural pieces created for Alexander McQueen has announced that he will put up 32 of the jewels he created for McQueen's runway shows at auction through Sotheby's.

The auction, set to take place on December 4 in New York, will include pieces such as a crown of thorns, Tahitian pearl earrings from a total of 45 pieces that will be up for sale. Leane expects smaller pieces to be bought by private collectors whereas he believes larger creations will be acquired by museums and displayed for a new, young generation to find inspiration.

With items starting with estimates at $2,000 and going up to $400,000, the auction will span items from the McQueen Autumn/Winter 1996 collection to their Spring/Summer 2008 series.
