Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says he feels ‘no rush’ to close CD Lamb deal; WR responds

It’s the latest in a long-running impasse between Lamb and the team that selected him in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

The 25-year-old missed voluntary workouts or mandatory training camp and did not attend training camp, making him subject to daily fines. Lamb is set to play under the fifth-year option on his rookie contract, which means he could be fined $40,000 per day for each missed workout. He is set to earn $17.9 million in 2024 under the option.

However, Lamb is coming off his third consecutive Pro Bowl season, and he also earned his first All-Pro selection. His season included 135 receptions, which led the NFL, 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns — all career-best numbers.

So, in an offseason filled with wide receivers getting huge salaries, Lamb wants to have his day, too.

Lamb isn’t the only Dallas standout who deserves a raise. He’s one of three Dallas stars who are up for contract extensions, with Prescott also heading into the final year of his current deal, and linebacker Micah Parsons certainly due a new deal that would be huge.

There’s no telling how much of Jones’ comments are posturing or not, but it doesn’t look like Lamb’s stance is going away anytime soon.
