Climate activists stick their hands to Goya’s paintings at the Prado Museum in Spain

Climate activists in Spain hold hands Famous paintings by Francisco de Goya At the Prado Museum in Madrid on Saturday.

A video posted on the Twitter account of the Futuro Vegetal campaign group showed a lecturer asking visitors not to take pictures of the scene.

Influential works – from the 18th and 19th centuries – include the artists “La Maja Vestida” and “La Maja Desnuda”: The Dressed Maja and The Naked Maja.

A temperature was drawn on the wall between the two works: “+1.5 degrees Celsius”

“Last week, the United Nations realized the impossibility of keeping us below the 1.5°C limit (set in Paris Climate Agreement 2016). “We need to change now,” said a tweet containing a picture of the couple.

The museum said its paintings were not damaged and that graffiti was painted over them.

“We condemn the use of the museum as a venue for political protest of any kind,” she said.

Police and Futuro Vegetal said two people had been arrested.

Futuro Vegetal said the pair was removed using a solvent.

This represents the latest event in Series of protests by climate activistsand influence on famous artworks.

Demonstrators tried to stick themselves to the glass covering Vermeer’s “Girl with a Pearl Earring”, and others threw tomato soup at Van Gogh’s “The Sower” and one of the sunflowers.

All of this comes ahead of the GOP27 Climate Change Conference in Egypt, scheduled to take place starting Sunday.
