British Navy Spots Russian Warship Sailing ‘Close to England’ (PHOTOS)

The Royal Navy said it had tracked the Russian guided-missile frigate Admiral Gorshkov and its accompanying tanker Kama as it traveled in international waters near Britain.

UA Russian warship that sailed “close to the United Kingdom” in the North Sea was pursued by the British Royal Navy on Wednesday evening.


He said his warship HMS Portland, a Type 23 frigate, was watching the Russian guided-missile frigate Admiral Gorshkov and its accompanying tanker Gama sailing in international waters near Great-Brittany.

However, he added, “protecting warships in UK territorial waters and adjacent sea areas is a regular activity of the Royal Navy”.

HMS Portland joined the Norwegian Coast Guard ship Bergen as the Russian ships moved south into the Norwegian Sea, the Royal Navy said.

“By maintaining a visible and stable presence, the Royal Navy upholds maritime law and deters malicious activity to protect our nation’s interests,” said Commander Ed Moss-Ward of HMS Portland.
