Private jet charter broker, PrivateFly has now been acquired by Directional Aviation. Founded in 2008 by Adam Twidell and Carol Cork, the platform was then one of the first business jet charter portals online, which has managed to retain a significant position in the space.

"PrivateFly’s co-founders, are true innovators who recognized early on how important mobile capabilities and on-demand digital bookings are in the charter space." said Kenn Ricci, Principal of Directional Aviation. "Pairing PrivateFly with Skyjet, OneSky’s current digital on-demand charter broker, brings together two unique, innovative companies."

Majority owned by Ricci, Directional Aviation acts as a holding combining companies like FlexJet, SkyJet, Sentient Jet, Nextant Aerospace and Constant Aviation, creating a fully-integrated private aviation group.

PrivateFly's acquisition by Directional marks a significant step for the market, with more traditional players fully integrating the importance of digital in the private aviation space. Founded in 2008, Twidell and Cork (husband and wife) mortgaged their house to launch the business. For the past two years, the company had registered a 40% YoY growth according to its statements in the media. Its revenue was believed to be near $30 million per year, which would include total flight bookings.
