CES 2019: Bell unveils a prototype of the Nexus convertiplane
At the international exhibition CES 2019 in Las Vegas, the American manufacturer of helicopters Bell presented to the audience a prototype of the Nexus five-seater aero taxi with a payload of up to 272 kilograms.
The Nexus convertoplane, presented by Bell to the public CES 2019, is designed for short flights and use in megapolises and small inter-city traffic. Aerotaxi accommodates four passengers and one pilot weighing up to 272 kg.
The device is capable of speeds of up to 240 km / h with a range of 240 km. It does not need specially equipped sites for take-off and landing due to the use of the vertical take-off method. For this, aero-taxi with a hybrid power plant is equipped with six rotary electric propellers.
According to the manufacturer, the car will go into mass production in 5-7 years and will become the first Bell aerotaxi in a series of devices on electric. Other models, according to the developers, will be used not only as public transport, but also for the transport of goods and for military purposes.
