The 21-year-old Indio, California native wins the 2024 edition of american idol, Joining a list of past champions that includes Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard and Carrie Underwood.
Carter held her nerve during the three-hour final on Sunday night (May 19), beating Jack Blocker, a 25-year-old from Dallas, Texas, in third place, and runner-up Will Mosley, 23. From Hazelhurst, Georgia.
The budding musicians performed Jon Bon Jovi’s “Bed of Roses,” “Somewhere” from “West Side Story,” “River” (with Bishop Briggs) and the original song “This Is’t Over.”
It’s definitely not over. When America voted, Carter came in first.
Carter dominated the Season 22 finale that saw Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Jon Bon Jovi serve as guest mentor for the three finalists, as well as special performances from Nick Fradiani, New Kids on the Block, Jason Mraz, Hottie & the Blowfish, and Cece Winans. James Bay, Wynonna Judd, Seal, Bishop Briggs and Cody Johnson. The CMA Foundation and ABC also agreed to donate $20,000 to each of the finalists’ local music programs.
